Solveig Raschpichler

Solveig Raschpichler is a Master’s student in the North American Studies program at the John F. Kennedy Institute, where she is majoring in Literature and Culture. She received her BA in General and Comparative Literature at the Freie Universität Berlin and studied French Literature at the Université Paris 8 during the winter term 2013/14. Her research interests include the emphasis on purity in American self-conception and its effects on the management of the US body politic through different institutions (churches, public health sector, prison complex) and on ideas of self-optimization in a digital age. Further interests include representations of mental illness and drug abuse, especially from the 19th century onwards.
